JAKARTA (Antara): The Education Ministry in cooperation with the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) has selected four students to be sent to Canada to participate in the 18th International Biology Olympiad 2007.

The four senior high school students, who would represent Indonesia in the contest, were Stephanie Senna, Prayudi Utomo, Roswitha Muntiyarso, and Saifurrizal.

Roshwitha is studying at the second grade of the Cendikia Islamic High School in Banten Province, according to Muntiyarso, her father.

The 18th IBO will be held in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada, from July 15 to 22, 2007.

IBO is an annual event bringing together some of the world's foremost secondary biology students. Each of the approximately 60 participating countries may select up to four of its most talented secondary biology students to compete for prestigious medals.

During the week-long event, the gifted youth from both the developing and developed world will engage each other in a variety of social activities, explore the diversity of Saskatchewan province and the heart of the Olympiad, challenge intensive theory and practical biology examinations that will be facilitated by a panel of over 200 international experts.

More than 50 countries and 198 competitors participated in IBO 2005 which was held in Beijing, China. (***)
